List the quantities behind the total
Identify every roof edge carrying gutter, including porches, additions and garages. Count corners, end caps, outlets and downspouts separately. Gutter length is not the same as the perimeter of the house or its floor area.

Account for access and hidden repairs
Height, narrow side yards, attached structures and landscaping affect how a crew can reach the runs. Complex corners and short sections require more fitting than an uninterrupted straight run. Ask which access assumptions the quotation uses.
New gutters need suitable backing. Require a process for photographing and approving concealed fascia or roof-edge repairs. Where a price includes an allowance, ask how the final charge will be calculated rather than assuming every damaged foot is already covered.
Price sizing changes as a system
Five-inch and six-inch refer to nominal gutter sizes, not universal roof-area ratings. Ask why a particular profile, outlet and downspout combination is proposed for each contributing roof area. Local rainfall design and concentrated valley flow matter.
If the existing system overflows, first distinguish blockage, a low spot, outlet restriction and roof runoff overshooting the gutter. Upsizing only the trough may not solve the identified problem. Request the base and revised drainage scopes as separate options.
Evaluate guards and coordinated work
Guards, downspout extensions and fascia repair should each have an explicit purpose. Ask whether the existing system needs correction before guards are added and how outlets will remain accessible.
Combining necessary work can share some access and removal tasks, but a blanket bundle saving is not established. Compare the written combined total with the separate scopes. Do not replace a functioning adjacent component solely because it appears in a package.
Compare terms as well as the price
Check quantities, products, supporting repairs, exclusions, schedule assumptions, disposal and payment stages. Read the actual material and workmanship terms, including care requirements and the procedure for leaks or callbacks.
