Fascia, Soffit, and Gutters
Aluminum fascia and trim capping applies a thin, formed aluminum skin over existing wood trim boards. The aluminum protects the wood from weather exposure, virtually eliminating the need for periodic repainting of these surfaces.
The primary benefit is maintenance reduction. Aluminum-capped fascia lasts decades without repainting. This is particularly valuable for multi-storey homes where painting fascia requires scaffolding and is both expensive and infrequent.
Protecting Your Home's Exterior
The underlying wood must be sound before capping. Aluminum capping over rotted wood is a temporary cosmetic solution — the rot continues beneath the cap, eventually causing the fascia structure to fail despite the aluminum exterior.
Custom-formed aluminum is bent on-site to precisely match the profile of existing trim boards. This allows the cap to wrap the full face and edge of the fascia, providing comprehensive weather protection.
Professional Installation
Colour selection for aluminum capping is broad. Factory-applied paint in standard architectural colours provides decades of colour retention. Custom colours are available with longer lead times.
Integration with eavestroughs is a consideration. Eavestrough installation typically follows capping, with the eavestrough hanger attaching through the aluminum cap into the fascia. The sequence matters for a neat, weather-tight result.
Capping is not appropriate for all situations. Where the original wood profile is historically significant or where the intent is to restore rather than cover, replacement with matching wood or PVC profiles is a better approach.
